Integration Announcement

We are pleased to announce that York Community Services and New Heights Community Health Centres have jointly embarked on a planning process that could lead to the voluntary merger of the two organizations.  This planning will inform a recommendation that will be reviewed by the Boards of Directors of both organizations in February 2010.  If approved, the merger process would commence in Spring/Summer of 2010.

It is expected that this planning will confirm that a merger would produce the following mutual benefits:

• Improve and increase services delivered to the community;
• Generate efficiencies and opportunities to strengthen organizational capacity; and
• Gain a stronger voice in the provision of health and social services for marginalized populations in Toronto’s West End.

The two Boards will be seeking the perspectives of clients, staff and partners who could be impacted by this potential change.  Details about this process will be communicated in the coming weeks.

The Toronto Central LHIN is aware and supportive of these discussions and is looking forward to hearing the decisions of the Boards of Directors.

York Community Services

York Community Services (YCS) is a community-based, non-profit organization committed to supporting the development of healthy communities, families and individuals by providing a broad range of human services in partnership with the community of Central West Toronto. With over three decades of experience serving the community, YCS is a trusted partner in the delivery of broad community-based care. 

As an integrated, multi-service agency, YCS is structured to assist people with complex problems through the delivery of primary health care, counselling and case management, legal and housing services, adult protective services, and health promotion and community support programs.  They employ a team of multi-disciplinary professionals that collaborate in providing these services to disadvantaged individuals and families.
